TV / Radio Host, executive producer, five-time cookbook author
A public television fixture for more than 25 years, George Hirsch is the host and executive producer of several groundbreaking cooking, lifestyle series and specials on syndicated, public television, PBS, PBS Passport, and Create TV. In 1994 he was the first to take a cooking series outside of the confines of the studio. In the Fall of 2021 in partnership with The WNET Group’s NPR WLIW-FM George Hirsch Lifestyle Radio, a one-hour, weekly public radio program was released featuring informative conversations about food and culture.
A certified executive chef and culinary educator, George has authored five cookbooks about grilling and outdoor cooking, indoor cooking and techniques, and attaining and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with food. With his latest public TV and radio series George Hirsch Lifestyle and George Hirsch Lifestyle Radio, premiered in Fall 2021 with NPR’s WLIW-FM.
George, a multi-award-winning chef, is at the heart of quality cooking & lifestyle, sharing his in-depth culinary knowledge and well-honed techniques for the at-home cook and better living lifestyle enthusiast. His shows transform the way food and lifestyle are perceived to millions of people. You may say he changed cooking and lifestyle forever. Beginning with his empowering phrase, "If I can do it, you can do it!"
One of George's most rewarding experiences is being co-founder and Chairperson Emeritus of the Chef and Child Foundation, a national program with more than 20,000 American chefs dedicated to fighting hunger and emphasizing nutrition among the young. His launch of the Champion of Breakfast program for school-age children during the Clinton administration is still the model used today. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the American Culinary Federation, along with international recognition for his efforts to eradicate childhood hunger. George has served on the advisory council of Jessica Seinfeld's foundation, Babybuggy.org and has been honored by Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation™ Soul Kitchen Wall of Honor alongside tributes to President Bill Clinton and Tom Colicchio. George also remains committed to his lifelong culinary support for our farmers and food producers.
Prior to his national television series, George hosted a weekly television segment on News 12 Long Island. He also has appeared on many local and national talk shows, including The Today Show, Fox & Friends, Weekend Today, Good Morning America, Live with Kelly, MSNBC, and CNBC, among others.
George's lives on the East End of Long Island and continues to be a pioneer sharing the good word through quality food and lifestyle.
